Lorenz Grünewald studies media culture and business with a focus on music. After completing his bachelor degree in music at the Popacademie Enschede in the Netherlands he worked as a freelance session guitarist and music instructor while studying Media and Music Management at the Institute of Journalism and Communication Research in Hanover, Germany. There he took part in various research projects e.g. on the music business networks in the city of Berlin. He was awarded with the Young Scholars Research Award at the Vienna Music Business Research Days two times for presenting papers on ‘Artrepreneurs’ as well as his digital ethnographic research on branded music culture. Lorenz now works as a researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) is managing director of the German Association for Music Business and Music Culture Research (GMM).
