Let´s pop the bubble!

Touch the Music: Enhancing Future Digital Musical Devices through Haptic Feedback
Vibrotactile sensation and force feedback, known collectively as haptic cues, are  an important aspect of music playing as well as music listening, but still not fully exploited in the design of new digital instruments and interfaces. While current designs usually offer touch-mediated interaction, they fall short of providing a natural physical experience to the performer and listener alike as they generally lack meaningful haptic cues.
In our recently published book Musical Haptics we bring together for the first time a number of multidisciplinary perspectives on the role of haptic interaction in music performance and experience, from touch biomechanics to multisensory perception to haptic technology and design. We argue that establishing a rich haptic channel in musical interfaces will enhance user experience and performance, improve accessibility for disabled persons, and provide an effective means for musical tuition and guidance.

Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll - The Minds of Artists and Music Managers
