Opening Keynote: Kepler Concordia and the Future of Music
What if you could answer a 400-year-old burning scientific question just by playing a musical instrument? What if playing this instrument helped launch a new economy of music and art in society? Kelly Snook will discuss her new project, Concordia, which allows you to play solar systems like musical instruments. You are immersed in the geometric world of Johannes Kepler, flying  through space as you explore and play the Music of the Spheres. We are entering into a new era of music as a tool for scientific exploration and discovery, which is a return to the past when music was part of the Quadrivium.

The State of the Art: Cutting Edge Music Marketing in 2018
In this highly-anticipated session, Steve Mayall of the leading music industry research, consultancy and news agency Music Ally will present a white paper - exclusively created for Most Wanted:Music - about a huge growth area in the music business: smart and immersive music. It’ll explain how forthcoming AI, machine learning and voice assistants, AR, VR and immersive environments can and should form part of the music marketing mix.

The session will explain the most interesting and innovative smart and immersive music campaigns of the past year, and discuss the most pressing questions: what will the role of smart speakers and voice assistants like Google Home and Amazon’s Alexa be in music discovery? How effective are immersive technologies like AR & VR in music marketing? Are they available only to large acts or are there ways smaller artists can offer smart and immersive experiences to fans? And which are some of the leading platforms and case studies for artists of all sizes?  In this essential session, these questions - and more - will be answered.

You can download the white paper here with the Code that will be provided during the panel.

All conference attendees also get a copy sent via the recap newsletter the day after the conference.

Fuck AI - How to rescue creativity with love and data

How to make and love music with immersive media
Virtual Reality, 360º video, and spatial audio has the opportunity to become the next big revolution in how we consume music. The technology already exists to experience live concerts in VR as if we were physically there - and soon, it could become a widely-adopted new way of interacting with music. In this wide-ranging session, Tim Rittmann and Muki Kulhan will talk about the role of VR and other immersive media - and what kind of impact it will have on how we experience music in the near future.

This session is for creatives, too: how do you make music for non-linear, 360º experiences? You’ll be introduced to two VR music creation and arrangement tools, with live performances on stage, so you can decide if VR audio is a gimmick or a highly valuable new creative tool. You’ll also be able to check out spatial audio for yourself, and there’ll be a closing panel discussion where experts explain realistic use cases of VR and spatial audio in the music industry, and how you can get started with it.

Live demos on stage
The PS4 application Tracklab by Little Chicken will demonstrate that virtually everything is possible when interacting with music in VR.

Decochon will team up with Berlin-based musician, ℌEXOℜℭℑSMOS (born Moisés Horta Valenzuela) to create music in their Sandbox Instrument, MuX. They'll then explore the philosophy of creating music with these instruments and the power of building modular instruments in virtual space.

The Musical Brain
Your brain-waves can be turned into music, and it’s amazing. OK, that’s a bit simplistic – here’s the bigger picture: physiological processes in the brain create potential fluctuations that detectors on the head can pick up via electroencephalography (EEG). They can then be algorithmically identified so that strings of brain activities – your thoughts – can become different musical notes! And with a controlled flow of thoughts, your own brain becomes a composer. And then this creates a feedback loop – listening to the music creates new thoughts, which creates new music… come and listen for yourself!
