Virtual Reality, 360º video, and spatial audio has the opportunity to become the next big revolution in how we consume music. The technology already exists to experience live concerts in VR as if we were physically there - and soon, it could become a widely-adopted new way of interacting with music. In this wide-ranging session, Tim Rittmann and Muki Kulhan will talk about the role of VR and other immersive media - and what kind of impact it will have on how we experience music in the near future.

This session is for creatives, too: how do you make music for non-linear, 360º experiences? You’ll be introduced to two VR music creation and arrangement tools, with live performances on stage, so you can decide if VR audio is a gimmick or a highly valuable new creative tool. You’ll also be able to check out spatial audio for yourself, and there’ll be a closing panel discussion where experts explain realistic use cases of VR and spatial audio in the music industry, and how you can get started with it.

Live demos on stage
The PS4 application Tracklab by Little Chicken will demonstrate that virtually everything is possible when interacting with music in VR.

Decochon will team up with Berlin-based musician, ℌEXOℜℭℑSMOS (born Moisés Horta Valenzuela) to create music in their Sandbox Instrument, MuX. They'll then explore the philosophy of creating music with these instruments and the power of building modular instruments in virtual space.
